Did you know that Zeus is actually not the king of the God's? If you keep digging back into ancient Egyptian, Roman, Greek Mythology, and even as far back as the ancient Sumerian's, you find that there was a much older "King". This King of the God's to the ancient Greeks was called Kronos, and to the Akkadian's and Sumerian's, was called Ninurta. The ancient Egyptian's knew him as Ra.
This means that Kronos and Rhea's son is actually Jupiter, aka Zeus. Meaning, Zeus is not actually "The God" of all Gods. In the beginning of time, there was Uranus the father of Kronos. Kronos can be confused with Aries (his grandson) because both Aries and Kronos are Gods of war. However, the story goes that Kronos overtook his father's throne, just like his father over took HIS FATHER'S (Uranus) throne. The parents of Kronos are Uranus and Gaia ( Goddess of Earth, aka Mother Earth). Uranus angered his wife, Gaia, and so she called upon her son Kronos and his siblings ( The Titans) to help in capturing, castrating him (throwing his flesh into the ocean and the story and birth of Aphrodite begins there) and then, imprisoning Uranus, the God of the Universe. They succeeded and so Kronos took over the rule of the other Gods.
Kronos is known as the King of the Titans and the father of the first generation of the Olympian Gods and Goddesses: Demeter, Hades, Hera, Hestia, Zeus, and Poseidon. Kronos brought forth The Golden Age and became the titan Lord of the Universe.
Kronos is the God of time, fate, space, war, and form. When you look at Kronos, his goal is to ultimately build strength but, in a way that presents obstacles and a fight to the finish. This is why he is also known as the God of obstacles. This can seem scary but, Saturn can teach us a lot about ourselves. He almost represents our shadow to a certain degree. He teaches us to face our fears, recognize our limits, and insecurities. The obstacles we face while in our Saturn return (I'll explain this in a minute) eventually help us to build some inner strength, stability, and self respect. Depending on how you work through your Saturn return, determines how you will face life there on after. You could either learn and grow from your Saturn return, or you can continue to live in illusion and denial.
A mentor of mine states, " The sign and house of your Saturn show how, and in what area of your life, you're likely to encounter difficulty and a sense of limitation. This can feel like you're not getting what you need from the world around you. It can also feel like, you're not enough or up for the task yourself."
So why is it important to know what sign your Saturn is in? It sheds light on what your challenges will be in life. To know this can help you in navigating yourself in a direction that can soothe these challenges and help you get through them with understanding, ease, and grace.
What is a Saturn Return?
If you look at your natal chart, you will see Saturn and the placement it was in at the exact time of your birth. Saturn takes about 29 years to fully orbit the Sun (Though astronomers and astrologers argue it can take about 32 years), BUT stays in one zodiac sign for 2 1/2 years. Which means, every 29-32 years, your Saturn WILL return to the exact astrological placement it was in when you were born! This also means possible life crisis for you. To what extent, we don't know until you experience it. It is said that around this time, you experience panic, anxiety, possibly depression, and other difficulties where worry and fear is experienced about life. People make drastic and unthought through decisions. Such as, people get married, they get divorced. They leave the country, they come back to the country. They leave their job, they get a job. They sell their car, they get a more expensive new car. People tend to make drastic changes in some shape of form here. They break down in tears then change your career. I mean so many things can happen lol! The whole point in knowing your Saturn sign and in what house it is in, can prepare you for your next Saturn return and sheds light on what exactly it is you're dealing with. A lot of the times, we begin to sense fear and worry because we are afraid of the unknown. We thin so much about the future (guilty!) that it makes us sick. You don't have to be completely blind in your journey.
Identify your Saturn sign and in what house it is in. Highlight it or circle it. For example, my Saturn is in Capricorn and lies in the 9th house. See examples of houses and their meanings below.
My mentor states, "Each house in the zodiac is associated
with a sign, and they share similar qualities, so combine them." For example, my Saturn in Capricorn means one
thing, and with it being in my 9th house adds more meaning. Combine the two for a complete look at what type of obstacles you'll face.
My mentor continues, "The sign and house is the basis of your personal Saturn signature, but other aspects also add to the alchemy. You'll likely have two descriptions and affirmations that apply to you from the list below unless your Saturn is in the house associated with it's sign, for example Saturn in Cancer in the fourth house. The fourth house already rules cancer. So from the list below, you'll see only one affirmation for you. Going back to me as an example, my Saturn is in Capricorn (one meaning and affirmation), and it lies in the 9th house of Sagittarius (second meaning and affirmation). Message me if you want to be sure you've matched your meanings and affirmations up right, and I'll direct you.
